We went on our annual state fair trip last weekend. It was so nice to be back! I know many were concerned with the spread of COVID, but I am here to say that most activities were outside and we felt safe. Anyways, the main attraction for us was my giant pumpkin of course! You can check out that post here. In addition to the giant pumpkin we had a blast getting our favorite fair foods. We joked that we ate our way through the fair this year.

When Jake and I go to the State Fair we like to get one of a certain food item and share it. This way it allows us to try more items and prevents us from over eating and is nicer to the budget. The food items that we had this year were: Vietnamese ice coffee, garlic wontons, Dole Whip Pineapple float, deep fried pickles, deep fried Oreos, milk, corndog, and Sweet Martha’s Cookies to go. Everything was so tasty!

What is everyone’s favorite state fair food? We would love to hear!

Last week was finally the day I have been waiting for. The day I got to bring my pumpkin into the fair! To transport my pumpkin to the fair we cut it off the vine and gently rolled it onto a tarp then used the tarp to lift it onto a pallet on a trailer. We then secured the pumpkin and off to the fair we went! Giant pumpkins arrive at the Minnesota State Fair a day before the fair starts. Unloading was a lot easier as they have a fork truck to help you out. Once it was unload it was time for the pumpkin to be weighed. My pumpkin came in at 147 pounds. I was hoping for a little more, but I still think I was successful for my first year.

My pumpkin placed 7th out of the adult division. It may be the smallest but it is the mightiest! I am pretty excited to be brining a giant pumpkin ribbon home with me haha! We had a blast over the weekend going to see my pumpkin and posing for pictures with it.

I look forward to the next time I can grow a giant for the state fair.

I just had to share another beautiful photo of my dahlias. My dahlias are still in peak season and I am enjoying every minute of it. One of my favorite things to do in the summer is pick a handful of flowers when I get home from work in the evening. It is so relaxing and I love seeing all the beautiful colors. This past week I had fun arranging my dahlias in an ombre pattern to capture this beautiful photo. I also arranged them in an ombre pattern in my vase and it was so pretty. This year I planted at least one dahlia variety from each color group and oh my do they look beautiful together! I will be so sad when dahlia season ends because it is one of my favorite times of the year.
