Welcome to The Skunk and Squirrel! We are a Minnesota couple that loves to spend time exploring our state, food, gardening, the color blue and more! Join us as we venture through life and share our journey here.

You may be wondering how did we decide on the blog name The Skunk and Squirrel? Here is how:

Early on in our relationship we somehow gave each other the nicknames of skunk and squirrel. How we came up with these nicknames, we are not really sure. One of Rachel’s favorite animals has always been the squirrel, and Jake really liked that and thought it would be cute to call her it and it stuck. The skunk on the other hand we have no idea where the nickname came from. We are two goofballs when we are together, so the skunk and squirrel nicknames are only fitting. The names stuck and the rest has been history, Jake’s nickname is the skunk and Rachel’s is the squirrel. From texting skunk and squirrel emojis daily to calling each other the skunk and squirrel, it has been nothing but fun. It only seemed fitting to name our blog the skunk and squirrel.
