Happy New Year! Today I am sharing some of my most loved products and purchases of 2023!

Alice Walk Wrap: I purchased two of these wraps in 2023. These are wonderful for travel and to dress up a basic outfit. I also wore them over formal dresses in the evening at summer weddings.

Weezie Towels: Weezie towels are by far my favorite towels. They are so soft and fluffy and come in beautiful colors and embroidery options. I order fresh towels every year during the birthday sale that takes place in October. You can check out my review here! Get $20 off your purchase here.

Sarah Flint Perfect Sandal: Summer of 2023 brought many weddings! I knew I wanted a shoe that I could wear again and again and be comfortable all day. The perfect sandal by Sarah Flint delivered! They have a built in arch support which makes them super comfortable. I was able to wear them all day and into the night dancing. I purchased the sand calf which is a super versatile color for summer. Use this link and code SARAHFLINT-CCRACHEL3 for 15% your purchase.

Peter Beaton Hat: I have been dreaming of a Peter Beaton hat for many years. I purchased one for our Hawaii honeymoon this year. The Wauwinet hat is so ladylike and elegant and dresses up any warm weather outfit. Not only did I wear it on our honeymoon, I wore it almost every week when outside in my garden!

Prose Haircare: Early 2023 I went through a period of hair loss. I searched for many products to help grow and maintain healthy hair. I found Prose which provides custom formulated haircare. I have used the shampoo and conditioner since February 2023 and my hair feels thicker and stronger. You can save $20 here.

Sockwell Compression Socks: I often spend a lot of time standing while at work. I have noticed that my calfs will ache at the end of the day. My mom introduced me to Sockwell compression socks. Oh my goodness they make my legs feel like a hug! I bought Jake a pair and he said the same thing! They come in so many colors and patters and are very comfortable. I wear them on days that I am either sitting or standing a lot.

Hydroflask Water Bottle: I have still not jumped on the Stanley bandwagon! These bottles made the list as I use them everyday of the week! I have three that I rotate. Hydroflask has since updated the style of the 32oz straw water bottle.

Oats Overnight: Oats Overnight also made my 2023 favorites list as I have them for breakfast weekly. Jake and I typically look for a fast breakfast that keeps us full until lunch. Oats Overnight fits the criteria! They come in a variety of flavors with new flavors always being released.

Majesty Palm Tree: Being an avid gardener I had to put at least one plant related item on the list! Last March when our snowy Minnesota winter felt like it was never going to end I purchased a Majesty palm tree from Costco for our master bedroom. It has thrived since! It makes me so happy whenever I enter the room and brightens up the space! A post will be coming soon on my palm and care tips.

Sarah Flint Perfect Stretch Boot: This year I decided to update my black boots during the Sarah Flint Black Friday sale. I love the sleek look of Sarah Flint boots. Like many other Sarah Flint shoes, they have a built in arch support which makes them very comfortable for standing and walking which I do a lot of during the workday! I ordered a half size up as I wear socks with my boots. Use this link and code SARAHFLINT-CCRACHEL3 for 15% your purchase.

Do you have a favorite thing from 2023?

As I close 2023 and think about 2024 I am hoping to spend more time on the Skunk and Squirrel! The past 1.5 years have been so busy along with technical issues with our website! Happy New Year!

Who else loves decorating for Christmas?! Today I wanted to share just a few snapshots of my Christmas decor in my home. I look forward to decorating each year. I tend to keep my decor minimal and classic.

Starting off with the tree, I decided to do a red and gold color theme along with our memory ornaments. I love how some festive pics such as the red berry pics can easily dress up the tree. Can you find the skunk and squirrel?

This fall we added a mantel to our fireplace. I added 3 strands of faux real touch Norfolk pine garland with a gold and pearl garland accent. The real touch garland sells out fast every year! I found mine at Gerten's in October! I added two strands of battery powered wire twinkle lights for the finishing look.

On our buffet table I like to display our nativity. How darling are the cloches! I found the silver trays at Gerten's a few years ago and knew I had to have them to go along with my cloches. Behind the nativity I strung 5 strand of the real touch frosted Norfolk pine garland and added some wire twinkle lights to the top.

I hope you are enjoying decorating and preparing for Christmas festivities to come!

Halloween has come and gone which means it is time to switch over window box decor!

Next to summer, winter is my second favorite season to design container and window box arrangements. Here is what I used for fresh greenery: 1 bundle of spruce tips (10 tips), 3 bundles of red pine in the front, 6 magnolia leave branches for a contrast in texture, oregonia and red dyed seeded eucalyptus as an accent. I topped it off with natural and glitter red pinecone picks and a set of three warm white twig lights. I purchased all of my supplies at Gertens (of course!)

To keep the fresh greens looking fresh all season long I sprayed them Wilt Pruf which helps to lock on moisture to prevent drying and browning of the greenery. I started using this a few years back and it truly helps the greens to look fresh well past New Years.

I swapped out my two front containers with spruce tips well. For an easy swap, I purchase pre-arranged pots and add cedar along the edges, berries and glitter picks.

Best,

Rachel
